GLUES AND ADHESIVES
|
|
These are some of the glues and adhesives that have been used to bond SHOCKtec padding to other materials. Some glues and adhesives react differently to different materials. They should be tested on a small portion of the materials first and used according to the manufacturer requirements. It may be necessary to test a number of glues to find the one that works best for you. If you have any question concerning glues and adhesives contact Kemmler Products, Inc. at 1-888-411-3884.
1. Ortec by Renia - Polychloroprene cement for bonding many materials used by orthopaedic shoe technicians, pedorthists and foot orthotists. Not for PVC. Free of Toluene 10 to 40 min set time
2. Lord Glue #7650 from Lord Corporation 877-275-5673 ext 3228 ask for local distributor.
3. Hi-Tack - Glycerine Ester glue, it also has hexane and acetone (buffing agent) that will breakdown the surface of smooth materials before bonding. 15 to 30 min set time.
4. Super Glue - Ethyl Cyanoacrylate glue. Set time 2 to 5 min.
5. Gorilla Glue - Polyurethane glue. Set time 2 to 5 hrs
6. Bond 527 Multi Purpose Cement. Set time 2 to 24 hrs. 7. 3M High Strength 90 Spray Adhesive - Dimethyl Ether, Methyl Acetate. Set time 5 min. to 2 hrs. depending on material.

- PRODUCT IDENTIFICATION
Product Name** SHOCKtec Gel (Kemmler VDP original polymer) Product Code** Dry Viscoelastic Polymer w/film and foam chemical family ** Polyurethane Viscoelastic Polymer Appearance Products are of various configurations comprising dry viscoelastic polymer contained within a polyurethane film. Contains polyurethane foam.
- HAZARDOUS INGREDIENTS
NONE
- PHYSICAL DATA
The dry viscoelastic polymer contained inside has shore 00 hardness less than zero and is fungus resistant by ASTM D1924-63. The elastic film containing the polymer has tensile strength of 6000 PSI and elongation of 300%. The padding may be washed with water containing detergent and sanitized with any agent used in hospitals for this application.
- FIRE DATA
The elastic film which contains the dry viscoelastic softens at about 275 degrees F. The combination of dry viscoelastic polymer and the containing elastic film is rated as self-extinguishing by the ASTM D1692-68. Extinguishing Media: Dry Chemical, Carbon Dioxide, Chemical Foam, and Water
- HUMAN HEALTH DATA
Primary routes of entry ** Ingestion. Note- Products have been in use for 20 years in the form of wheelchair cushions and bed pads with no deleterious effects to humans.
- HUMAN EFFECTS
Inhalation ** None Ingestion ** No study has been made Eye Contact ** None Skin Contact ** Products comprised of Dry Viscoelastic Polymer contained in the elastic film are non-allergenic by Schwartz Patch Test.
- EMERGENCY FIRST AID PROCEDURES
None Required
- EMPLOYEE PROTECTION

MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET
- PRODUCT IDENTIFICATION
Product Name** SHOCKtec Air2Gel (Kemmler Lite & UltaLite) Product Code** Air-Frothed Viscoelastic Dry Polymer with treated polyurethane film substrate (carrier film) and foam chemical family. ** Clouded Polyurethane Viscoelastic Polymer Appearance ** Products are sold in various size sheets, with a TPU film substrate and often marketed with a peel off poly-ethylene film attached to the second flat side. Air-Frothed viscoelastic dry polymer (polyurethane foam) is contained between the base substrate, the polyurethane film, and peel off polyethylene film or a polyester fabric.
- HAZARDOUS INGREDIENTS
NONE

- FIRE DATA
The treated polyurethane film which serves as the base substrate (carrier film) for the air-frothed viscoelastic dry polymer softens at about 300 degrees F. The polyethylene film which serves as the peel off film softens at about 275 degrees F. The combination of air-frothed viscoelastic dry polymer and the attached films, treated polyurethane and polyethylene, combust at approximately 600 degrees F. Extinguishing Media: Dry Chemical, Carbon Dioxide, Chemical Foam, and Water
